My journey began with a dream to give back to the community that once needed me the most. As a former inmate who became a licensed barber while incarcerated, I saw an opportunity to make a difference. After returning home, I collaborated with Nigel White to organize our first back-to-school event at Kings and Queens Barbershop providing free haircuts to young men in need.
Over the years FDI has grown and evolved. We've partnered with numerous barbershops and stylists in Wilson, expanding our services to include braids for young ladies and adding backpacks, school supplies, clothes, food, and activities to our giving back event. Now in its 9th year our annual event serves over 250 kids at the local community center.
Recognized as a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status, FDI's mission extends beyond our annual event. We offer a dynamic program supporting teens facing challenges and transitions through mentorship, peer support, clinical therapy, and skills development in a judgment-free zone. Our goal is to foster personal growth, emotional healing and real-world readiness, embracing youth with compassion and consistency
